VANJA ZELCIC,

soprano

VANJA ZELČIĆ (soprano) graduated from the Academy of Music, University of Zagreb (regional department in Rijeka) in the class of professor Zdenka Žabčić Hesky on  9 June 2006 after which she completed her two years of training. 

 

She has been a member of the Croatian National Theatre ''Ivan pl. Zajc'' since 2005 where she has performed in a number of minor roles thus gaining indispensable experience:  in Giacomo Puccini's “Tosca“ the role of the shepard, in Giuseppe Verdi's „La Traviata“ the role of Annina, in Francesco Cilea's “Adriana Lecouvrer“ she portrayed Mad.lla Jouvenot. She also sang a soprano role in Marijan Nećak's ballets „Pjesma nad pjesmama“ and „Penelopa“ with which she toured throughout Portugal.

 

She has participated in numerous concerts in the theatre as well as abroad, some of which are notable: Gioachino Rossini: „Stabat Mater“-soprano, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: “Requiem“ –soprano, the concert  in Paris and Giovanni Batista Pergolesi:“Stabat Mater“ –soprano in Montenegro .

 

The more significant roles she has sang are: in Jacques Offenbach's '' Parisian life '' she portrayed Gabrielle, in Georg Friedrich Handel's opera 'Rinaldo' ' the role of Armida, in Carl Orff''s ''Carmina Burana '' - soprano, in Benjamin Britten's "The Turn of the Screw" she played Mrs. Grose, in Charles Gounod's "Faust" she embodied Siebel, in Croatian Ivan pl. Zajc's  "Nikola Subic Zrinski" she played Jelena, in Jakov Gotovac's "Ero the Joker " she portrayed Djula, in  Gaetano Donizetti's  "Le convenienza ed inconvenienze teatrali" she sang the role of Corilla Sartinecchi, in G.Verdi's “Falstaff" she sang Nanetta, she played Frasquita in G.Bizet “Carmen",she embodied Sophie in J .Massenet' s “Werther", she played Musetta in G.Puccini' s “ La Boheme",she played Adele in J.Strauss" Die Fledermaus".

 

The main roles she sang are: G.Verdi's "Rigoletto"Gilda,  W.A.Mozart: "Don Giovanni "  Dona Anna,G.Rossini:”Il Barbiere di Siviglia" Rosina.
