An energetic temperament coupled with a specially fine sensitivity for the belcanto italian style make Mr Juncos an acclaimed conductor for the operatic repertoire, from baroque to contemporary music.
Born in Córdoba, Argentina. Graduated in Piano, Organ and Conducting at the National Conservatory of Buenos Aires. He's furthered up his training in orchestral conducting in Rome with Massimo Pradella and later on with Donato Renzetti (Milano) and Miquel Ortega (Barcelona).
After his succesful debut as conductor in 2000 with the opera Noye's Fludde at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, he's conducted titles such as Madama Butterfly, Don Giovanni, Rigoletto, Il Corsaro, Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci, La Bohème, Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus, Mahagonny Songspiel, among many others. Special mention deserves the remarkable success at the Greek National Opera of María de Buenos Aires, opera-tango by Astor Piazzolla, as well as The Seven Deadly Sins by Kurt Weill at he Teatro Argentino de La Plata. At the Oviedo Opera House he has conducted Il Trovatore, L'Italiana in Algeri and the ballet Bestiario, theater where he's held the position of Assistant Conductor for six seasons (2007/2013).
In 2014 he conducted in Buenos Aires the world première of the opera Ultramarina, by P. Mainetti.
At the beginning of his carrer Mr. Juncos has worked as pianist and Musical Assistant at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires for seven seasons (1995/2001), continuing his work in several prestigious european Opera Houses as Teatro Real in Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Festival of A Coruna, Festival Hall Santander, Vienna Volksoper, Festival of Baden Baden, etc.
As accompanist he has worked with renowned singers such as Marcelo Álvarez, Elina Garanca, Natalie Dessay, Hakan Hagegard, Sherrill Milnes, Dolora Zajik, Giuseppe Valdengo, Magda Olivero, Matteo Manuguerra, Celso Albelo, etc. Mr Juncos currently maintains an intense activity of concerts, appearing regularly in major concert halls in France, Italy, Germany, Argentina and Spain.
In addition to the opera and, due to his training as organist, he has always maintained a close relationship with the symphonic-choral repertoire, conducting Mozart and Haydn Masses or Bach Cantantas. He's conducted Bach's St. John Passion at the Festival Hall of Santander, where he served from the podium also as harpsichordist in the recitatives. He is regularly invited to conduct at the Sagra Musicale Malatestiana in Rimini, important Italian festival dedicated to religious music, which was responsible for the italian première of the oratorio Paulus Apostolus by E. Araldi, which was also recorded for Rodaviva Ed.Mus., and the oratorio Santo Stefano by M.Valmaggi. In 2015 he conducted the world première of oratorio Iustus also by composer E.Bocciero.
He has conducted the following orchestras: Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Orchestra of the Greek National Opera (Athens), JOSCAN (Young Symphony Orchestra of Cantabria), Orquesta Filarmonia Granada, Orquesta Estable of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata (Buenos Aires), La Mancha Philharmonic Orchestra (Ciudad Real), Iliber Baroque Ensemble (Granada), Ontinyent Symphony Orchestra (Valencia), Oviedo Philharmonic, Symphony Orchestra of Biscay (Bilbao), Lettimi Orchestra (Rimini), Orchestra of the Teatro Roma of Avellaneda (Buenos Aires), Rodaviva Orchestra (Riccione), Camerata Sotileza (Santander), Chamber Orchestra TMC (Buenos Aires), Iberópera Orchestra (Madrid), etc., in halls as Auditorio Manuel de Falla (Granada), Teatro Campoamor (Oviedo), Teatro Arriaga (Bilbao), Olympia Theater (Athens), Festival Hall of Santander, Rojas Theatre (Toledo), Teatro del Bosque (Móstoles), Auditorium of Torrent (Valencia), Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Teatro Roma (Buenos Aires), etc.
He's conducted the 2015 New Year's Concert with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium and Itzulera, ballet by J.C.Pérez, at the Arriaga Theatre in Bilbao.
Mr Juncos is currently Chief Conductor and Head of the Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales of Granada as well as Music and Artistic Director of Opera Choir of Granada since 2015, with whom he has performed Cavalleria Rusticana, Suor Angelica and L'Elisir d'amore, the Messa di Requiem by Donizetti and Requiem Op.48 by Fauré, always in the Manuel de Falla Auditorium of Granada, Spain; and Mozart's Requiem and Stabat Mater by Rossini at the Cathedral of Jaen, obtaining a great success both by the audience and the critics.
Mr Juncos has recently conducted Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony and Mozart’s Requiem for the very first concert of the Young Orchestra of Cantabria (JOSCAN), and the opera Dido & Aeneas at the Isabel La Católica theater of Granada with the Iliber Baroque Ensemble.
He has recently been invited to offer master classes of operatic repertoire in Nice, France (Centre d'Art Lyrique de la Méditerranée) and Milan, Italy (Accademia Melos), a Master Class in Orchestra Conducting at the Conservatory of Modena (Italy) and also to conduct a workshop on Il Barbiere di Siviglia and L'Elisir d'amore at Cordoba University - Opera Studio (Argentina), in addition to his regular presence at Jeunesses Musicales of Granada (Spain) always dedicated to the training of young opera singers.
