Bass-baritone Alessandro Calamai studied with Andreina Desderi at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence, Italy. He then attended master classes in Mozartean vocality with E. Schwarzkopf and A. Dermota, continuing with technical studies under A. Pola and repertory with R. Capecchi.
He was winner of several important competitions, among which: AsLiCo in Milan, Zucchelli in Bologna, Battistini in Rieti.
He has performed in some of the most important theaters both in Italy and abroad, including: Florence, Milan, Turin, Verona, Bergamo, Bologna, Rome, Bari, Venice, Palermo, Catania, Parma, Naples, Ferrara; Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Santander, Valencia, Salzburg, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Linz, Bordeaux, Lugano, Beijing, Shanghai; RAI, TVE, NHK, etc.
